BioBrent Murray joined Condé Nast Portfolio after working for seven years at the New York Times and its website, where he was a Senior Photo Producer. While at the Times, he edited photos for the site's homepage and worked on the online editions of the New York Times Magazine, T: Style, and Play. During his tenure, he worked with such photographers as Tyler Hicks, Lynsey Addario, Amy Arbus, Robert Maxwell and Andres Serrano, and won six Pictures of the Year International awards. In February 2007, he photographed New York Fashion Week for the Times, including the runway shows of Duckie Brown, Zac Posen, and Rachel Roy. He also edited and produced a wide range of multimedia projects for the Times, covering subjects such as the conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Darfur and the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
